Most people agree that creating a green recovery stimulus is necessary to promote sustainable and equitable growth and assist India in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This stimulus should involve green public investment and the use of clean technologies, or “cleantech” (UN SDGs). Significantly, the dawn industry scene now also includes green start-ups. Accordingly, the AIC-IIITH Foundation and EPAM Systems, Inc., a top provider of digital transformation services and product engineering, have chosen seven startups to participate in the EPAM Social Impact Innovation Program, which aims to provide these green startups with an equity-free grant of up to INR 5,00,000 and incubation support.

The startups were chosen after a thorough selection process that culminated in a pitching session in front of esteemed experts like Raj Janagam, CEO of AIC-IIITH, Naresh Sutravey, Senior Business Analysis Manager at EPAM India, Pramila Kasirajan, Director of Project Management, Sanjay Jesrani, CEO and Founder of GO North Ventures, Sreyashee Das, Incubation Manager at AIC-Sangam Innovation Foundation.

Prof. Ramesh Loganathan, Director of AIC-IIITH, stressed the importance and timeliness of the programme “To help India gain traction in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and aid in the fight against the climate problem, support for the Green Tech revolution is crucial. We at AIC-IIITH are pleased to have a part in it.” AIC-IIITH has currently run 5 cohorts and provided INR 2+ Cr in investment and incubation support to 38+ businesses. AIC-entrepreneurs IIITH’s have produced more than 300 jobs while addressing urgent issues in industries including agriculture, education, accessibility, and waste management.

The main characteristics of this year’s programme include access to IIIT-technological Hyderabad’s competence, incubator support, milestone-based financial support of up to INR 5 lakhs, and business coaching. Additionally, startups will have access to the knowledge and tools of the IIITH’s Deep-tech incubator, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). CIE is one of the oldest TBIs in the nation and has assisted more than 200 startups with finance and incubation support totaling more than INR 6 Cr.The chosen startups are using technological advancements and entrepreneurial risk-taking to assist India in overcoming diverse environmental concerns.
