Imperial College London on Wednesday announced a new scholarship programme for Indian students that aims to nurture the country’s most talented Master’s scholars over the next three years. The esteemed Imperial College in the United Kingdom will provide equal support to male and female scholars as part of its Future Leaders Scholarship program.
This announcement comes after Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, paid the campus a visit earlier this year.
Vice-provost for education and student experience at Imperial College London Professor Peter Haynes said, “We are delighted to launch our biggest-ever scholarship programme for Indian scientists, reaffirming our commitment to attract the very best students from all backgrounds and support them to flourish.”
The most gifted students in India will have an easier time expanding their horizons academically and experiencing new things at one of the best universities in the world thanks to the Future Leaders Scholarship, he claimed.
In addition, the institution recently forged a new alliance with the UK government’s Chevening Scholarships program, which will finance three more Indian Master’s scholars during the course of the following three years. The scholarships cover living and tuition expenses in addition to full tuition for students pursuing master’s degrees in engineering, the natural sciences, business, and medical research.
“Our longstanding partnership with the prestigious Chevening Scholarships program is a vital collaboration that helps us to open the doors of opportunity to exceptional students from India,” continued Professor Haynes, who is currently in India. The announcements were made while a group from the university visited the British Council in New Delhi, where alumni and potential students were present.
Alison Barrett MBE, Director India, British Council, said, “As one of the most prestigious universities in the world, Imperial’s new scholarships have created an opportunity for aspiring and talented young Indians to study in the UK and get access to world-class education.”
All students who have submitted an application to study at Imperial College London and receive an offer to study by May 11, 2024, will be considered for the Future Leaders Scholarship. The deadline for this year’s Imperial College London’s Chevening Scholarship partnership applications is November 7.
