In order to provide skill-based Bachelor degree programmes to Agniveers, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has signed MoUs with the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. At this time, the official website is accepting applications. Beginning on August 1, registration for these courses is now open.
Under this partnership, the varsity is offering five courses:
BAAS: Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills)
BAASTM: Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) Tourism Management
BAASMSME: Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) MSME
BCOMAS (Bachelor of Commerce (Applied Skills)
BSCAS: Bachelor of Science (Applied Skills)
These programs have a total of 120 credits, of which IGNOU offers courses worth 60 credits and the Armed Forces provide the remaining 60 credits for in-service skill training. The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), the governing body for skill education, has given its approval to the skill courses provided by the Armed Forces. These programs are also in line with NEP 2020’s suggestion that higher education and skill development be combined. The purpose of this alliance is to assist Agniveers in earning a bachelor’s degree while still working. The specialists hope to use this to increase the Agniveers’ employability after they leave the service.
