The Inaugural reTHINK Permanency Conference will be hosted by the Children’s Home Society

/PRNewswire/ — GREENSBORO, N.C., May 2, 2023 — In collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Children’s Home Society of NC (CHS) is holding the reTHINK Permanency: Unlocking Pathways from Foster Care to Family Conference on June 15. The reTHINK Permanency Conference will bring together advocates and family service professionals from all over the state to discuss permanency planning for foster youngsters.The Institute for Family, a CHS programme, will hold the Family Champion Awards Luncheon during the conference. The Institute bestows the awards, which Healthy Blue sponsors. The conference and awards luncheon will be place at NC State University’s McKimmon Conference and Training Centre, situated at 1101 Gorman Street in Raleigh, NC, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required, however the conference is free. 

The glue that holds people together in dedication and caring for one another lies at the core of every strong family. Social workers who labor to support, strengthen, and advocate for families strengthen the glue for many families. The Family Champion Awards honor social workers who go above and above for families in North Carolina. During the luncheon, each awardee will be recognised and celebrated. 

At the conference, influential figures in the movement for child and family well-being as well as families with firsthand experience navigating child welfare systems will speak and lead sessions. Breakout sessions will be participatory workshops where conference attendees will be pushed to reassess their contribution to supporting foster youngsters in establishing permanent relationships with families. There will be two sessions offered by each session leader at the conference.
