On April 12, it was revealed that Indiana State University and the University of Havana had partnered internationally. This change will give ISU students the chance to study abroad in Cuba and will also give them more access to education and research.
The collaboration will increase ISU’s portfolio of over 350 programs spread over 60 nations, including Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, United Kingdom, and the University of Zagreb, Croatia. Christopher Olsen, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Indiana State University, said, “We look forward to giving our students and faculty expanded opportunities to gain a greater worldview on public policy, political science, social and natural sciences, humanities, and healthcare through study abroad and classroom instruction.”
Additionally, he stated that he was ready to continue scientific collaboration “with the University of Havana faculty”. Research is anticipated to begin between the College of Health and Human Services at ISU and the top institution in Cuba in the autumn of 2023. It represents another collaboration between some 80 foreign universities, including Harvard, and the University of Havana. The connection with “the University of Havana’s Centre for Hemispheric and United States Studies and its Latin American School of Social Sciences” is another aspect of the exchange, according to Indiana State University’s LinkedIn post.
