IGNOU, AICTE to Translate MBA Courses in Hindi, Regional Languages

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on Tuesday signed an MoU with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for translation of the varsity’s MBA courses into Hindi and other Indian languages. This step has been taken in line with IGNOU’s goal of providing higher education in regional languages.

IGNOU’s MBA courses will be available in 12 Indian languages, including Hindi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Urdu, and Assamese, according to the official announcement.

A brief detail of AICTE intervention in technical books in different Indian languages and role of AICTE in MOU was presented by Amit Kumar Srivastava, Director, Faculty Development Cell, AICTE.

“AICTE will collaborate with IGNOU to make sure that the management words are included in the textbooks being written for MBA courses in different Indian languages. We think that this is a positive move towards inclusivity and that it will enable many students from rural areas to study an MBA in their native tongue. According to Professor T. G. Sitharam, Chairman of the AICTE, it will also assist students from non-English speaking backgrounds in enrolling in MBA programmes and gaining the knowledge and abilities necessary to excel in the corporate world.

Srivastava also revealed that since the Indian President launched the e-Kumbh portal on November 11, 2023, users from 47 different nations had downloaded more than 1 lakh books.
