Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will begin registration for National Overseas Scholarship Scheme 2023 on February 15. Candidates will be able to apply for the scholarship at the official website – nosmse.gov.in
The scheme aims to facilitate the low-income students belonging to the scheduled castes, denotified nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes, landless agricultural labourers and traditional artisans category to obtain higher education – master’s degree or PhD courses by studying abroad.
The NOS scholarship programme has 125 slots available in total. 115 are reserved for candidates from the SC. The annual awards will reserve up to 30% of the money for female applicants. Candidates shouldn’t be older than 35 as of April 1st, per the official website.
The first round of selection for scholarships will be made up of candidates who have received an unconditional offer of admission to one of the top 500 international universities according to the QS rankings for 2023, according to the official notification.
Eligibility criteria
At least 60% on the qualifying exam, or an equivalent grade, is needed in order to qualify for a scholarship. The qualifying exam would be a master’s degree in the case of PhD courses and a bachelor’s degree in the case of master’s degree courses.
