BSN Sports and ASICS collaborate to launch a national competition

ASICS and BSN SPORTS announced the beginning of a national contest called Sound Mind, Sound Body that will be open to youth programmes from all around the nation. With a focus on teams who support the sports of cross country, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling, four awards worth $12,000 each will be given out. The Sound Mind, Sound Body Contest’s entry period is now open and will remain open through Friday, March 17, 2023. Mid-March will see the selection of 12 finalists, and May 1 will see the announcement of the four winner teams. By going to www.bsnsports.com/ib/asicscontest, interested teams can submit themselves or another deserving team for consideration.

Olympic Gold Medalist and ASICS Elite Athlete Valarie Allman said, “ASICS is thrilled to launch the new Sound Mind Sound Body Contest partnering BSN SPORTS. “Playing youth sports was essential to the athletic success I have experienced throughout my career, and we are delighted to encourage young athletes through these four targeted awards,” said the recipient of one of the awards. “A great coach has an impact that goes far beyond the victory column. Athletes learn from great coaches how to lead with confidence, communicate effectively, establish connections, and deal with adversity, among many other things. Due to these factors, BSN SPORTS is excited to highlight inspirational coaches using sports to advance society through the Sound Mind, Sound Body Contest. Award recipients will gain access to valuable tools to continue creating well-rounded athletes and teams by working with our partners at ASICS “said Terry Babilla, president of BSN Sports.

Each winner team will also get a free professional development session through the Believe in You Empowerment Program (worth $1,000), in addition to the cash reward. The Believe in You Empowerment Program was created by Varsity Brands, the parent company of BSN SPORTS, and offers free resources and curriculum to help teachers and coaches facilitate character education and leadership development to help students realise their potential and work towards their objectives.
