NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2022 — Dr. Brian Donley has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of NewYork-Presbyterian, beginning January 9, 2023. His most recent position at Cleveland Clinic was as chief executive officer of Cleveland Clinic London, and he joins from there. Dr. Laura L. Forese, who will retire after nearly four decades of remarkable service to NewYork-Presbyterian, will be replaced by Dr. Donley.
The strategy and daily operations of NewYork-Presbyterian will be overseen by Dr. Donley. He will be in charge of carrying out the strategic vision and organizational culture of the healthcare system, as well as its operational goals. President and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian, Dr. Steven J. Corwin, stated, “We are pleased to welcome Dr. Brian Donley. Dr. Donley has years of experience in both clinical medicine and hospital administration and joins NewYork-Presbyterian with these skills. He began working for Cleveland Clinic in 1996 as an orthopedic surgeon and has since held a variety of executive positions, including chief of the clinical enterprise. He formerly held positions as vice head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and president of the Cleveland Clinic regional hospitals and family health clinics.
Dr. Donley oversaw the creation and debut of Cleveland Clinic’s first hospital in Europe in his most recent role as CEO of Cleveland Clinic London. Dr. Donley is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a professor of surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
