Benefits of Fitness and Exercise on the Brain and the Body

Exercise and physical activity are vital for everyone. All ages of people, including kids, teenagers, and adults, need frequent physical activity. Physical fitness through exercise is one of the most common pieces of advice offered by medics across the world, with many benefits if done properly.

Importance of Exercise

Exercise is used to improve health, and maintain fitness and is important as a means of physical rehabilitation. Exercising the body is one way of keeping it healthy. If we do not exercise then our muscles become weaker and may lead to us being less able to do things properly. Also, the bones can become weaker and may break easily. It is performed for various reasons, including increasing growth and development, preventing aging, strengthening muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance, and merely enjoyment.

Regular exercise makes the heart stronger and the lungs fitter enabling the cardiovascular system to deliver more oxygen to the body with every heartbeat and the pulmonary system to increase the maximum amount of oxygen that the lungs can take in.  Exercise reduces blood pressure, modestly lowers levels of total and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the bad cholesterol), and raises levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the good cholesterol). These positive outcomes lower the risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack, and stroke. Additionally, frequent exercisers are less likely to develop colon cancer and several types of diabetes.

Benefits of Fitness and Exercise

·         Boost the memory

Exercise improves the ability to focus on the task, ignore distractions and therefore is crucial for children and adults, and the elderly.

·         Improved Mental Health.

Physical exercise is a great mood enhancer. The feeling of elation experienced after exercise is and should be used as an alternative stress reliever. The amygdala is a part of the brain that is implicatedin processing stress, fear, and anxiety. Doing exercises like yoga and meditation can significantly reduce stress on the amygdala. Yoga makes us stress-free and improves the endurance power of the mind. Yoga controls our blood pressure. With yoga, a strong bond with nature is established. Meditation is considered the best way to fight depression.

·         Physical fitness and weight loss

An active exercise training program is ideal for reducing weight and improving physical fitness among obese children. The effects were possible without a change in dietary composition.

·         Protection of the body against age-related decline

Physical activity maintained throughout life is accompanied by a lower risk of developing chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular and coronary heart disease associated with chronological aging.

·         Improved heart and lung health

When done on a regular basis, physical activity both moderately and intensely lowers the risk of developing coronary heart disease. Regular exercise strengthens the heart and the muscle and their ability to pump blood to the lungs in the rest of the body. The lungs automatically pick up the pace to keep up with the exercise and therefore become stronger.

·         Improve cholesterol levels

Regular physical activity and exercise are effective in lowering cholesterol levels in the blood and thus preventing the onset of coronary heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes. Clinicians recommend aerobic training or resistance training to ensure that healthy cholesterol levels are achieved.

Exercise helps you get physically fitter while also enhancing your overall health and sense of well-being. Daily exercise can promote self-confidence, boost happy hormones, lower stress and anxiety, increase brain power, improve memory, and strengthen our muscles and bones.

Daily physical activity and a variety of exercises have significant improvements on the brain and the body among children, adults, and the elderly and therefore it is important to include regular exercise in our daily routines to maintain a healthy body and also to prevent lifestyle diseases.
