India’s minister of education invites Australian universities to establish campuses there

On Monday, Australian universities and training centres were invited by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to investigate the possibility of opening campuses in India and working with Indian institutions on other projects. Pradhan, who is on a four-day visit to Australia, tweeted, “We had fruitful conversations on further enhancing our cooperation in education, skill development, research collaborations, innovation and entrepreneurship… “I am pleased that Australia and India share a commitment to the advancement, prosperity, and value of education and innovation in our countries.”

At Western Sydney University on Monday, the Union minister and his Australian counterpart Jason Clare co-chaired the sixth meeting of the Australia-India Education Council (AIEC) (WSU). The education ministry released a statement stating that Pradhan “said that AIEC is a highly successful venue to further promote relationships and boost engagements in education, skill development, and research agendas” at the AIEC’s sixth conference. According to the statement, the two leaders decided to form a working group on transnational education to improve institutional links and create new possibilities for university cooperation between the two nations.

The two nations decided to increase their cooperation in learning, skilling, and research, according to Pradhan, who is also the Union’s minister for skill development and entrepreneurship. The statement said that he emphasised the scientific partnerships between the two nations in Ayurveda, Yoga, Agriculture, etc. He advocated for cooperation in fields including mining, logistics management, and other areas that require skill certification. He added that India has established Digital University and Gati Shakti University, allowing the two nations to collaborate on curriculum development and other issues.
