KU announces undergraduate professional studies online programmes beginning in fall 2022

KU Bachelor of Professional Studies

For the 2022–2023 academic year, KU will provide a brand-new online bachelor’s degree programme in professional studies, providing students with an associate degree or the equivalency of credit hours with the opportunity to enter a rapidly expanding and in-demand industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that between 2020 and 2030, employment in management professions will increase by 9%, creating roughly 906,800 new positions across a range of industries. The online Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) programme, available through KU’s School of Professional Studies, is made with transfer students in mind and concentrates on equipping students with professional and workforce-ready abilities to assure employment right away following completion of the programme.
This new programme, in the opinion of Stuart Day, dean of the KU Edwards Campus and School of Professional Studies, fills a growing demand in the Kansas City region and elsewhere. There aren’t any other choices for students to pursue a BPS degree locally, according to Day. “The KU programme stands out for its tight ties to academic programmes on the Edwards and Lawrence campuses as well as its partnerships with community colleges including Johnson County Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College. The transfer students who will be enrolled in this bachelor’s programme were taken into consideration when designing the curriculum, as well as the training of students to gain professional and workforce-ready abilities that will lead to employment immediately after earning the bachelor’s degree.”
