Nearly half of AICTE’s learning assessment exam takers come from five southern states, with Tamil Nadu having the largest percentage

In a study conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) between September last year and June this year, engineering students from five southern states – Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh – accounted for over half of the learning assessment exams.

According to the AICTE survey study, which found that first-year engineering students score poorly in math when compared to other key disciplines, undergrads from Tamil Nadu had the most assessments (24,499), whereas just three students from Goa signed up for it. The north-western states, which include Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana, are next, with 12387 students registered at colleges in this region taking the test. According to the report, registration figures from states in East and Northeast India were disappointing, totaling 9012.

Students from Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Chandigarh, Telangana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan fared exceptionally well in the test, scoring over 70%. Another pattern shown by the survey is that students taking their courses at institutes ranked 1-50 in the National Institute Ranking Framework perform substantially better (NIRF).
According to the survey report cards, students from NIRF ranked 1-25 had an average score of 52.64 percent, while students from NIRF ranked 26-50 received an average score of 54.61 percent. It subsequently begins to decline, with students at institutes ranked 101-150 obtaining an average of 47.44 percent.
