Is Passion The Only Element You Need?

There are many ways to decide success in life and every individual has their own unique way of assessing and executing their set of dreams. This is a complex process and it does require each person to be passionate about what they do. But passion’s not enough. There are other elements that you need to achieve success in your career. Passion, along with these factors would only fetch you prosperity and contentment in your professional life.

Purposeful career is one of the most important factors of your professional life. You need to make sure that there is a reason for doing what you do in your professional life. Once you find the purpose of your actions, it becomes easier to sustain or else there is a high chance you will give up at some point. You should strive to do something that gives you an opportunity to be challenged. Find something that enables you to help others, promotes positive change and serves a higher purpose. You should ensure that the work you do aligns with your core values and principles and could possibly make the world a better place. There are certain ways to find your purpose.

(i) Make sure that what you do has a goal other than survival.

(ii) Surround yourself with like minded people with similar goals.

(iii) explore different areas of interest to know which one succeeds.

Persistence is the one element that could be obtained when you have found your passion and purpose. Some people try to be  persistent when they are not passionate enough but it would always be an uphill battle that you can’t win. People who continue to work toward their goals despite obstacles are often met with huge success. Napoleon Hill explains it as,”persistence is the sustained effort necessary to induce faith.” A lack of persistence means that you give up because of minor inconveniences, even when you have the strength to keep moving forward. You might have all the resources and the motivation required to achieve something, but if you are lacking persistence, you won’t be able to go far. Ways to overcome lack of persistence are:

(i) Set small goals for yourself within your profession.

(ii) Think of the time you’ve invested in developing your passion.

(iii) Make sure you see a promising future out of this and a positive outlook on how  you are going to make a change.

Once you have a passion in your life, things would be much easier with finding your purpose and the feeling to be persistent in your work. Once you make proper use of all these elements, there is no going back.
