24 March (ANI): New Delhi [India]: The Ministry of Education (MoE) will undertake a “foundational learning study” to gain a firsthand understanding of students’ learning levels at the end of Grade 3’s foundational learning stage. The project is the first of its type in the world, and it intends to establish reading comprehension benchmarks in 22 Indian languages.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will conduct the Foundational Learning Study in all States and Union Territories (UTs) over a four-day period, from March 23 to March 26, 2022, at the sampled schools, according to a statement from the education ministry.
“Around 10,000 schools and one lakh students are expected to participate in this study with the goal of conducting a large-scale assessment of the foundational learning of grade 3 students to establish a baseline for the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat mission,” the Education Ministry added.
