Now, girl students of a university in Kerala can avail “menstruation benefit” in the form of additional condonation of shortage of attendance. Considering the long-pending demand of the students, the well-known Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) here has sanctioned an additional 2 per cent of condonation of shortage of attendance to female students, in each semester. The Indian School of Business (ISB) on Thursday said it has entered into an agreement with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) to take up joint research on cyber security in areas of mutual interest. The agreement was signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Cyberabad Police, Kalmeshwar Shingenavar and ISB Institute of Data Science executive director Professor Manish Gangwar in the presence of ISB Dean professor Madan Pillutla on ISB Hyderabad campus, a release from ISB said. Aspirants can make necessary changes in the NIFT application form through the official website– nift.ac.in. According to Ministry of Education sources, the top 20% of students from each educational board would now be qualified to apply for admission to IITs and NITs and to take the JEE Advanced exam even if they did not receive 75% of the possible points in Class 12. State Minister C N Ashwath Narayan said the administration would further decentralisation in the higher education sector on Monday and invited Pennsylvania’s American higher education institutions to work with the Karnataka government. Students have welcomed the University Grants Commission’s draft norms for establishment and operation of foreign universities in the country, saying it will improve the quality of education and research and give aspirants exposure to world-class learning without having to travel abroad. The UGC announced the draft regulations for ‘Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India’. The final norms will be notified by the end of the month after considering feedback from all stakeholders.
