According to IIT Madras, there has been a 17% rise in the number of students who were able to get internships and a 51% increase in the number of organisations that have visited the university to offer internships.
The first day of the campus internship drive for students in the 2023–24 batch saw a 19% increase in internship offers received, according to the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M). The internship drive this year took place on August 5 and August 12.
Seven companies sent 19 offers for overseas internships on the day of the internship campaign. According to the institute, there was a 17% rise in the number of students who were able to get internships and a 51% increase in the number of organisations that came to IIT Madras to offer internships.
Texas Instruments, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Adobe, Procter and Gamble, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories were a few of the top employers during this year’s internship campaign.
“An internship is now a prerequisite for students to begin a successful and rewarding career. It helps individuals to apply the knowledge and abilities they have learned in the classroom to a real-world work setting. Prof. Sathyan Subbiah, IIT Madras’ advisor for placement and internships, expressed satisfaction with the efforts done by his team to help students secure internships in spite of challenging circumstances. In December, the placement season is also about to start.
